Lorenzo Modica holds undergraduate and post-graduate degrees in painting from the Academy of Fine Arts of Rome and an M.F.A. at the Slade School of Fine Art, University College of London. Modica exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in Italy and abroad (Inex Gallery Belgrade, MACRO Museum of Contemporary Art of Rome, Pastificio Cerere Foundation in Rome, Galleria il Ponte in Florence, Institut français Centre Saint Louis in Rome, ASC Gallery in London, Spaceship/Dungeon/Zoo in London, Galleria Studio G7 in Bologna, Fondazione smArt in Rome, Galleria Lunetta 11 in Turin). He is currently a professor of drawing and painting at John Cabot University in Rome.
Between 2017 and 2019 he led various projects in the field of art education in the context of mental health institutions for youngsters and adults. Over the years he has created sculptural and sound installations, site-specific projects, prints, artist’s books, videos, placing paintings at the center of his practice.
