Institutional profile
Professor Hurt teaches a range of courses on the history and literature of the Greco-Roman Mediterranean. Her research interests span the breadth of the ancient world, from the Greek and Phoenician migrations west in the 8th century BCE to the foundation of Constantinople in the fourth century CE. She works primarily in the period of the Roman Republic and is interested in conquest, colonization, religion, and numismatics in Roman Italy, Greece, and North Africa. Her current book project is on the destruction of cities in the Roman Mediterranean.
