Pietro P. Masina is professor of Asian history at the University of Naples L'Orientale, where he has worked for the last 20 years. Before that he worked in different positions at Roskilde University in Denmark. He is the editor-in-chief of the European Journal of East Asian Studies. He is Life Member of Clare Hall college, Cambridge University and has been visiting researcher at the National University of Singapore, the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences and the Nordic Institute of Asian Studies. He has been Secretary and then Chairman of the European Association of Southeast Asian Studies. Among his publications, Vietnam's Development Strategies (2006) and La Cina e le Nazioni Unite (2012).
