Closely analyzing the experiences of Jane Eyre, Bernard Marx, and Pecola Breedlove’s characters within the context of their respectivenarratives, this thesis seeks to unravel the complex interplay between physical appearance andpower dynamics, shedding light on the ways in which beauty ideals are employed to reinforceexisting hierarchies and perpetuate systemic injustices.
